Services

Anna provides Specialist Occupational Therapy services (UK, nationally) for clients age 11 to 25. Anna provides occupational therapy services in-person from a therapeutic space at Burscough Wharf (Lancashire) and online. Dependent on need, Anna also provides occupational therapy services within educational settings across Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

Anna provides wellbeing coaching nationally and internationally.

What is the difference between occupational therapy and coaching?

Anna offers both occupational therapy services and coaching. Occupational therapy is a regulated healthcare service that involves clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention and professional recommendations to support participation in daily activities.

Coaching is a non-clinical service focused on supporting young people or adults to reflect, develop strategies, confidence and practical, actionable skills through guided reflection, goal setting and discussion.

What type of occupational therapy do you offer?

Anna practices occupational therapy drawing upon psychosensory, psychotherapeutic and sensory-integration frames of reference.

Sensory processing and integration refers to a neurological process which involves the perception, registration and interpretation of different sensory stimuli within the environment and from one’s own body. The way in which information from the body and the environment is processed, understood and used within context, can influence personal motivations, activity preferences, relationships with others, goal-directed actions, movement, and environmental engagement.

Psychosensory is a term used to describe an approach which considers and supports the connection between the body, sensory systems, and emotions. A psychosensory approach recognises that emotional experiences are closely linked to how the nervous system is processing information -  both from inside the body (hunger, tension, a racing heart, or pain), and from the outside world (noise, light, touch, movement, or busy environments).

Occupational therapy focuses on helping people manage everyday life with as much independence and confidence as possible; whether that’s studying, working, socialising, managing routines, looking after themselves, or engaging in activities which bring meaning and joy.

Occupational therapy drawing upon these frames of reference brings these ideas together. It helps people to understand how their unique sensory profile, experiences, emotions, and surroundings influence each other and daily life. This can help people to respond to themselves with more self-compassion, and make practical changes that help daily life feel clearer and more manageable.

Occupational Therapy Assessment

Tn Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment is a supportive and collaborative process designed to understand what’s going well for your young person, what feels challenging, and why. It helps uncover the underlying factors that may be affecting daily life, learning, wellbeing, and independence:

Daily routines (what works, what doesn’t)

Energy patterns and burnout

Emotional regulation (what helps, what overwhelms)

Executive functioning (planning, organisation, motivation, problem solving)

Sensory experiences (how environments and sensory stimuli affects them)

Somatic awareness (their awareness, understanding and responses to their internal states and emotions).

Following the assessment, you’ll receive a clear explanation of what’s driving the current challenges and practical steps to support positive change. Reports and feedback are written in professional but accessible language - so you can understand and use the recommendations with confidence.

Assessment includes:

90-minute consultation in-person or online.

Standardised tests (where appropriate).

Occupational formulation outlining strengths, challenges and key areas of need.

Recommendations for home, school, work or community environments.

A detailed written report.

A follow-up call to review findings.

Investment: £499

Reports tailored for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) can be provided, and I also work with Local Authorities for commissioned assessments. An observation within the educational setting is usually recommended. Please email to discuss EHCP-specific or commissioned services.

Occupational Therapy & Coaching Sessions

One-to-one occupational therapy or coaching sessions help young people build practical skills, emotional tools, and deeper self-understanding and self-compassion. These sessions turn insight into action - helping them manage challenges more effectively and move toward genuine independence.

Depending on needs, sessions may include:

Developing somatic awareness - tuning into how your body communicates stress, energy, and emotions.

Understanding and managing sensory sensitivities or sensory under-responsivity.

Adapting environments to support comfort, focus, and calm.

Energy conservation approaches - learning to manage energy, stress levels and prevent burnout.

Establishing effective and realistic daily routines.

Experimenting with new habits and problem-solving strategies.

Gently building confidence in difficult activities, and when managing challenging situations.

Through this process, your young person will learn to recognise their needs, care for themselves intentionally, and develop practical strategies that last.

Investment: £100 (in-person) or £80 (online) per session

For OT Intervention commissioned by the Local Authority - please contact me for a quote.

Occupational Therapy Extras

The following additional services are provided at a cost.

Attendance at remote meetings (e.g. Annual Review, meetings with other professionals/schools/workplaces): £65 per hour.

Letters: £65 per letter

Whilst standard administrative time is included within the report and session costs outlined above - extensive administration beyond typical provision (e.g. lengthy back and forth emails) will incur a charge proportionate to the therapist’s time.

Booking Occupational Therapy Services

To book in for an occupational therapy appointment with Anna, please fill out the contact form on the website (https://www.somawise.uk/contact) or send an email to info@somawise.uk so Anna can get in touch with you. If you would like to speak via telephone, Anna can schedule a free initial 15 minute call to allow chance for you to get to know the therapist and ask any questions.

Following confirmation of services, a consent form and invoice will be sent through to you. A deposit is required on booking in order for any agreed dates for therapy to be held.

Full payment of therapy services is required 48 hours before your appointment by bank transfer.

Cancellation of Services

The Service understands that unplanned circumstances can arise and sessions may need to be occasionally cancelled or rescheduled.

A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. For an assessment, the deposit will be 25% of the total assessment cost (as will be outlined on the invoice). For individual sessions, a flat rate of £20 per session will be charged as a deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.

Appointments cancelled more than 48 hours before the appointment may be rescheduled. The deposit will be transferred to the new appointment time. If you choose not to reschedule and have already paid in full, you will be refunded for the service minus the deposit.

Appointments cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled session may not be rescheduled or refunded. The full session fee may still be charged as blocks of time are set aside for appointments, including planning, preparation and administration. Late cancellations significantly impact the ability to offer that appointment time to another client.

If a genuine emergency or sudden sickness prevents the client from attending the session and informing the therapist more than 48 hours in advance, waiving or reducing the cancellation fee may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Repetitive cancellations or no-shows will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, but services may be stopped if the client is not able to commit to appointments. Repeat cancellations have a detrimental impact on service delivery.

If the therapist needs to cancel an appointment, she will endeavour to inform you as soon as possible and reschedule your session at a mutually convenient time. If the session has already been paid for, a full refund will be provided if preferred.

There are no refunds for services already provided.

Responsibilities when engaging in Occupational Therapy & Coaching Services

If referring a young person for occupational therapy or coaching, it is the responsibility of the parents/carers to inform the therapist of any medical conditions, risks or other relevant information of which it is important for the therapist to be aware, when working with their young person.

If referring yourself for occupational therapy or coaching, it is the responsibility of the client to inform the therapist of any medical conditions, risks or other relevant information of which it is important for the therapist to be aware, when working with you.

Parents/carers must inform the therapist of any circumstances relating to parental responsibility that may affect consent for services. This includes situations where another person with parental responsibility does not consent to, or disputes, the young person receiving assessment, therapy or any related intervention.

Parents/carers remain responsible for the young person’s behaviour during sessions and may be asked to cover the cost of repair or replacement of any equipment, materials or property damaged through misuse.

Discharge from Services

There is no obligation for either therapist or client to continue therapy or coaching, including where more than one session has been agreed ahead of time. Either party may decide to end the therapeutic relationship for any reason, subject to applicable ethical guidelines and professional standards. If the therapist chooses to discontinue provision of services, the client will be informed as soon as possible in writing via email communication.

The therapist has the right to decline services if it is not believed that the relationship/services are the right fit.

The therapist has the right to end a session and discharge the client due to aggressive, unsafe, threatening or abusive behaviour.

Regarding a situation where the therapist has ended services and the client has already paid, any services not provided will be refunded in full.

If the client chooses to discontinue services, any refunds for prepaid services will be subject to the cancellation terms outlined above. Sessions already completed are non-refundable.

Clients will be automatically discharged from the service if no appointments or contact (i.e. scheduling a session) has been made within a one-month timeframe.

If a client does need further support in the future, re-referrals are welcome and the therapist will be in touch.
